Description
Broad Peak, standing at an impressive 8047 meters (26,401 feet), is the 12th highest mountain in the world. Located in the Karakoram Range on the border between Pakistan and China, it is part of the Gasherbrum massif. The peak was first successfully climbed on June 9, 1957, by an Austrian expedition led by Marcus Schmuck, Fritz Wintersteller, Kurt Diemberger, and Hermann Buhl. The name “Broad Peak” refers to its extensive summit ridge, which is over 1.5 kilometers long.
